08/12/2011 - 09/12/2011 : The excessive imbalances procedure (EIP): how to undertake surveillance on housing markets?

A workshop dedicated to housing related issues under the LIME technical subgroup of the EPC

In view of the first application of the Excessive Imbalance Procedure (EIP), DG ECFIN has intensified work on different aspects related to internal as well as external macro-economic imbalances. As part of this process, it is planned to take stock of existing methodologies and tools through a series of seminar/workshops bringing together member states' representatives (under the LIME technical sub-committee of the EPC) as well as experts from other International Institutions and the Academia.

The first Workshop dedicated to Housing related issues will be held on the 8 and 9 December.

It will be followed by seminars on private sector balance sheets, sustainability of external positions and competitiveness developments, which will take place in 2012.

The Workshop Series will comprise three sessions, one on methodologies and tools, another one on policy options and structural issues and a third one on country experiences.
