Glossary:Regional total R & D personnel

The regional total research and development (R & D) personnel comprises all persons employed directly for research and development (R & D) in a region, as well as those providing direct services such as R & D managers, administrators and clerical staff.

This indicator can be broken down by institutional sector and/or by occupation. Regional statistics on total R & D personnel should be collected in terms of both full-time equivalents and head counts.
